About

    About the Pathfinder Group

A not-for-profit industry group helping New Zealand organisations understand, evaluate and successfully adopt RFID technology.

    Who we are

    Independent. Not-for-profit. Member-driven.

The NZ RFID Pathfinder Group was established to give New Zealand businesses an impartial place to learn about Radio Frequency Identification — what it is, where it works well, and how to deploy it without costly missteps.

We are not a reseller and we don't sell hardware. Our role is to demystify the technology, share lessons from real deployments, and connect members with the people, standards and tools they need to succeed.

The group is proudly supported by GS1 New Zealand and Times-7, and works alongside a growing network of solution providers, integrators and research partners.

    What drives us

    Our guiding principles

Four ideas shape everything Pathfinder does — from the briefings we publish to the demonstrators we run and the research we commission.

    Independent guidance

We are New Zealand's only vendor-neutral source of information and advice about RFID — helping organisations cut through the hype and identify what actually works.

    Shared learning

Members pool real-world experience from pilots, deployments and research so the wider community benefits from collective insight rather than repeating mistakes.

    Industry collaboration

We connect end-users, integrators, hardware vendors, researchers and standards bodies — including a long-standing partnership with GS1 New Zealand.

    Member-driven

A volunteer National Committee, elected under the Pathfinder Constitution, sets direction on behalf of voting and affiliate members across the country.

    Governance

Led by a volunteer National Committee

Pathfinder is governed by a National Committee of RFID practitioners drawn from some of New Zealand's most RFID-savvy organisations. Committee members are elected under the Pathfinder Constitution and donate their time to keep the group running on behalf of members.
